Do I need planning permission for a garden arch?

It depends on your local council. If you keep the height under 2.5 metres, you should be fine without the planning permission, but it’s always a good idea to have a look at your local council’s website to understand the rules.

How do you stabilise a garden arch?

Secure each leg of the arch with ground spikes for a secure fitting into grass or soft ground. You can use a container with rocks or sandbags, or you can fix it about 30cm deep to the ground to ensure its stability.
