Lavender 'Hidcote' is one of the best-known and smartest-looking English Lavenders available, and is prized for its long-standing, excellent and reliable garden performance. This gorgeous variety loves a sunny spot and can thrives in dry conditions. It's compact shape and size makes it a great choice for growing in a patio container as well as in the border or as a fragrant low hedge. The deep-purpose flowers are produced continuously from mid-summer onwards and will attract bees and butterflies. Lavender 'Hidcote' will suit any style, sitting just as comfortably in a contemporary or formal outside space as it does in a traditional cottage or wildlife garden. If you like to pick flowers from the garden to display indoors, these are a great choice, with a long vase life and rich colour that fades very slowly. These heavily scented blooms are also perfect for drying. Grow English lavender plants in free draining soil. Choose a position in full sun. Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting.
